But we were determined to make sure the kids were gonna go home thinking of how fun it was in Oklahoma! Instead the stupid water park (the REAL one, not just my little makeshift backyard water park) was closed. (see this to find out why)
Luckily, I searched my brain and after a couple of phone calls (my first friend call advised her pool was not open either) we were able to take the very disappointed kids (except Roo, who was back at school and BA, that had been at band camp all week) to my friends neighborhood pool.
What did you think of that?
Mel: That was awesome. And as far as my kids were concerned, we went to a pool and swam. That's what they wanted. Your friends were so nice to let us crash their neighborhood pool, and very nice in person, too! It was a really beautiful setting. I was sure that before we left Aria would head down to the little stream in back and try to catch wildlife. I laughed at the thought that perhaps for the second time that week we were about to load up the kids, promise them pool time, then turn around and go home!! It was probably easier to drag them from this pool than if we HAD hit the waterpark.
the RaMbLeR: I'm so glad they were satisfied with this pool since that was the best we could do at the time. As it was I know SM was NOT happy and did not want to leave when Hubs came to pick him up for football practice. He was having too much fun playing in the water.

If I recall right, we didn't do much else that evening except my Hubby was starting his plague decline about that time so he offered up the big screen and we tried to relax while the kids watched a movie. What movie was that again?
Mel: Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix! By the way, I was pretty sure that North Dakota had some pretty bad rains not too far back??
This was a better day, and most memorable because after that quick downpour we let the kids run around in all the water on the street. I've never seen so much water disappear so fast. In ND that water would sit for days and breed mosquitoes. OR fill my basement...this year was exceptionally bad for that. Why do you ask?

the RaMbLeR: Because the excitement on the kids faces was as if they had never seen rain before....
I loved watching them play "Follow the Leader"...even if it WAS in the middle of the road!
And to see JC's reaction when I put his sweet little hands in the rain dripping from the roof of my house.

Mel: That was pretty darn cute! I think the shock the kids experienced was that it was still so warm, even soaking wet. It cools off so fast here!!! They all loved being allowed to march through the puddles all they wanted. I was doing laundry anyway! He loses track of time (not sure where he gets THAT from...it has to be his father!) so he probably just thought they were getting drinks. haha
I know I sure hated to see you leave! It seemed like you had just gotten here and I still had so much I wanted to show you. I wanted to show you the river walk in our downtown area and we missed the zoo and I would've loved to take you over by the lake...it's beautiful there!
So, I think we have plenty of things to DO for your next trip to come see me again! But can you be sure you leave the palgue back home or wherever...as long as you don't bring it here again?
Mel: I will <strike>promise</strike> try hard not to get anyone sick again. All told, when our trip was over (I went to WI next) 12 people ended up getting sick. I'm pretty sure the CDC is well aware of my movements now. I still had fun. It was awesome to talk to you without typing or video delay!!! I really wish we lived a little closer. My hubby thinks I'm cracked for travelling alone w/ 4 kids for that distance! Maybe that's why we get along so well....we're both a little crazy, hee hee!

the RaMbLeR: I'm not sure I know what you are talking about - crazy - I didn't drag 4 kids clear from one end of the US almost to the opposite end! CRAZY LADY! But, I am SO glad that YOU are crazy! It was awesome to meet you IRL! It would be wonderful to have you as my neighbor....that friend that could come in my open door and it would be no big deal, just to chat with a cup of coffee in hand. I could see that happening....IF you lived closer! Oh, and I appreciate that your hubby was willing to give you up for all that time so you could come meet me. I guess maybe we ARE both crazy! A lot of people were amazed that I would let an EBFF some stay inside my house for almost a week (cause you could've been some crazy psycho lady). Haha!! I said I already knew you were!
Mel: Hey, I think we got to know each other better than if we'd spent all that time sight seeing! Nothing says TMI like admitting I just peed my pants throwing up in your toilet and changing in the same room together. Really, who does that? Us, I guess !! I truly had a good time despite the plague. I was sad to go and sorta wished I could postpone the rest of my trip to stay longer, now that we were healthy!! My friends said some of the same things... you're driving "where" to meet "who"?? Are you sure about this?
the RaMbLeR: ROFL...PMP...Oh, no that was YOU! I was SO glad we clicked IRL just as well as we did online. That could've been a disaster if it had been otherwise. And, despite our illnesses, I also enjoyed your company and honestly can't waite until the next time. Thank you for trusting and making that trip!
Mel: Thanks for taking us! BFFs IRL! (Part I)The following is an interview/conversation about our first IRL visit between myself and Mel Fraase. You can see HER version of the story HERE!!

the RaMbLeR: So, tell me <strike>Mary (as in Typhoid Mary)</strike> I mean Mel, how was your drive from North Dakota all the way to Oklahoma?
Mel: Hmm, lets see, it started out great. I figured we had the whole day to get down there, so I really tried to make it fun for the kids (all 4 of them)
the RaMbLeR: Did you drive straight thru or did you have any detours?
Mel: We stopped often (I think I said I wish I hadn't potty trained the 3-yr-old), but really my intention was to drive straight there, not overnight stop. I didn't realize we wouldn't get there until 2am. It was really great until the last 2-3 hours.
the RaMbLeR: Until the end? Even with the long drive all of that was ok?
Mel: Well, it was about the last few hours when the FIRST two kids started puking. I was on the turnpike so there was nowhere to pull over. I yelled from the driver's seat "Grab your McDonald's bag!!! Puke in that!!" I kept calling to update, and when I could I stopped to clean and change the 2 pukers. Good times, good times.
(Oh, I also convinced all of them it was the McDonald's so we wouldn't have to eat there all the way back. It worked)
the RaMbLeR: Are you sure it was your convincing or just that they decided it wasn't quite as good a second time and didn't want to chance a third....or forth?
Also, I seem to recall someone needing me to send them directions along the way cause they thought they could 'wing it'?
Mel: GAH! Oh yeah, I didn't trust the Google maps directions, so I kept calling for better ones. I ended up pretty much using the route it sent me in the first place!
the RaMbLeR: Well, once you FINALLY pulled into my driveway (or actually spotted me as you came around the curve), what was your first thought?
Mel: I thought you looked just as cute as your picture, even at 2 am. And for some reason I thought you'd be waaay taller than me (like everyone else), but we're not far from the same size. How about you...?
the RaMbLeR: HeHe...Honestly (since I couldn't really SEE you - except your little hand frantically waving back and forth), I thought "Thank you Lord for getting my poor crazy friend here in one piece!" and wondered what I could possibly do to help get you settled.
Then as you stepped out of the van I thought you were just as cute as a button! (whatever that means...but I always took it as a great thing...either way, you were so cute crawling out trying to gather up whatever you could)

I think BA surprised Mel by coming out to also help her ‘get settled’. He offered to carry in her bags after he met her. This (luckily for him) was one of the few times he saw them as he was gone at band camp most of the time.
Mel: Were you afraid to take my vomiting kids in??
the RaMbLeR: Nah, not at all! I'm used to dealing with lots of vomiting/spit up/drool from Roo. At that time I had NO clue you were bringing the plague into my home! You also had ME convinced that it just HAD to be the McDonald's food. ;)
Mel: At the time, since it was just the two, I really <strike>hoped</strike> thought it was!! I really thought about turning around back about 2 hours, but I'd made it this far...!
the RaMbLeR: Really? You really thought you could drive back another .... how many hours did it take?? 12, 13, 16? LOL
Even with the plague, I couldn't let you!
Mel: Well, I appreciate you being brave enough to take us in, especially considering what the rest of the week was like. SO, what exciting things do did you have planned for us?! I'm sure as soon as these two are feeling better we can get to the fun!!
the RaMbLeR: Oh, I had researched and bugged other friends trying to find some fun interesting things to take the kids to. I had to ask others since typically we don't go anywhere.
I figured we could take the kids to a local water park that only costs <strike>$6</strike> $7 or less to get in. And, another fun adventure to a museum that has dinosaurs, but.....
Mel: Oh, #1 and #2 are feeling better, but now #3 is sick. AND your school called to tell us your son #1 is sick... sigh. Maybe tomorrow will be the right day??
the RaMbLeR: Sure....or so we thought!! Luckily we hadn't already made the 45 minute drive all the way to the museum! So, we turn around, I park YOUR van (that I had to drive because YOU were too ill to handle the driving) and after helping UNLOAD all the very confused children (that had advised me that we were going the wrong way as we pulled into the neighborhood) I hopped into my vehicle to race off to the school for the baby.
What were YOU thinking/feeling at that time?
Or were you too busy puking while I was gone?

Mel: I felt pretty bad that Roo was sick, especially since there was probably minimal interaction between my sick kids and him. Poor guy. Made me fear that there was more on the way. But I think he handled it the best of everyone. And I didn't get sick until evening. AFTER I ate tons of quesadillas. Which were, by the way, GREAT...the first time. I think I admitted I was sad/glad I was with you sick instead of at home sick with 4 kids who would want to be fed when I couldn't stand the sight of food. My husband is gone nights and I don't think I'd have survived. SO I guess I owe you for that!!! So while I was going to bed early, how was the rest of your evening??
the RaMbLeR: Ah, one of those double edged swords, eh? The guilt along with the gratitude? I knew you were miserable and more than happy to 'get to know' your family (even in your absence). I just wanted you to be able to puke in peace! LOL
My evening went reasonably well. As you mentioned I think Roo handled the plague the best. Well, at least at home. I forgot to mention when I picked him up from school his teachers were trying to sanitize the carpet AGAIN from all his puking. I'm guessing he probably didn't have much left by the time I brought him home.
So I had fun playing with the kids and hauling 'The Siren' around. Although The Siren was off while you were not in sight. hehe
but I was pleasantly surprised and I was not up....with HIM...instead I was up ALL night with my #2.
Did he wake any of you while he was so loudly hurling? I remember I kept telling him "shhhh, you are gonna wake everyone". It was a little inconvenient that the bathroom he uses was right outside the door to your 'hotel'.
Mel: Ha ha, I think I remember hearing him, but I was too busy concentrating on not joining him to mind much. My kids sleep like rocks, so no one woke up. Except JC, who decided 6 am was plenty late. I think by late that morning everyone was feeling a little better. I enjoyed the makeshift water park. My kids thought it was fun. Maybe not ACTUAL waterpark fun, but even the little kids got to play safely.
How were YOU feeling?
the RaMbLeR: Oh yes, 6:00, The Siren, like clockwork! Dang he's the most adorable little siren! His cute smile just makes your heart melt and makes the siren sounds almost forgettable. Actually, other than when I was actually still half sleeping, it just made me giggle!
I think by that time you were really starting to kick back into gear, weren't you? And Taz seemed to be his normal rowdy self. So, yeah, I'm glad the makeshift waterpark, courtesy of a tarp I had, a water sprinkler, my neighbors hose spraying down my Little Tykes slide and of course water balloons, entertained everyone.
Oh, and as for me........well, I suppose it was time for me to have MY turn on your LONG list of infectees.
Mel: Long and Distinguished
the RaMbLeR: I am a little fuzzy on the goings on at this point. I'm not even sure what everyone had for supper, I just remember there was NO WAY I was eating ANYTHING. So, instead I crashed! It was your turn to get to play with the kids without me.
Thank you so much for taking over for me! Even though my Hubby's at home, it takes both of us to keep the house running smooth (or at least the way we are used to).
So, tell me, what did YOU do while I was snoozing?

Mel: Well, your hubby cooked some great BBQ! I felt bad you didn't have any. We managed to feed everyone and settle the babies. I cleaned up the kitchen while our big kids played. I think SM and Aria managed to stay up until almost midnight. I was just happy they got along. I remember when we were on our way SM thought he'd only get to play with Max, since girls do girly things. Aria was eager to show him she was "one of the boys". They bonded over computer and video games. My kids still talk about what SM had or what SM said. I think the NEXT day was probably one of the better ones... minus the water park incident ;)
I think my Monday came way TOO EARLY today! My goofy dog has decided the last few mornings that she needs to go outside, way before anyone in the house is ready to get up! She doesn’t bark. She just stands up on MY side of the bed, panting in my face! Kinda scary to wake up with something just staring and panting at you! I warn Hubby all the time that he just MIGHT get hurt if he does that to me – again!

When I finally decide I better drag my butt out of bed so V doesn’t pee on my floor, I come in to a grumpy 17 year old. He is NOT happy that HE has to get up so early for band before first hour. He can’t find a paper he needs for a class and then can’t find his phone and is frantically tossing things in his search. I help by calling his phone that is lost in the tornado in his room! So, out the door in a rush he goes! Love you too honey!

On with work for me….or so I thought! I had a few days off at the end of last week (hence probably the reason for MY grumpiness about having to go back to work on this Monday) and now I am having trouble with some of my tools I need to do my job! Grrrr…..

Now that Hubby is “in between jobs” (he’s a trim carpenter-so waiting on a house to get ready) he was sweet enough to take Roo to school for me. Unfortunately, my stupid vehicle would not start! Can you freakin believe it? So, we jump my car and off he goes with jumper cables in tow. On the bright side it didn’t die on ME leaving me stranded somewhere other than home! Another bright note – Hubby said it was only the battery and he has it fixed – the sucky side of this is it was $111.56! FOR A BATTERY! Argh!

And….now – I am waiting for my work computer to ‘reboot’ and hoping this fixes it’s glitches!

Ah, I LOVE MY MONDAYS!

Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07805631009814089439noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2962231432134070218.post-12027162715051728662009-08-23T09:49:00.002-05:002009-08-23T09:53:23.824-05:00Back to a RoutineSummer has been crazy busy! We’ve been having family fun…taking a few small trips on the road and I’ve met some new friends and had a couple of GNO’s (or luncheons). It’s been a blast but we’ve been so busy I forget which way is up sometimes.

Summer time for us is a time of relaxed rules. The boys stay up later and sleep in. This makes me stay up later and start work later (although I don’t usually get to sleep in any later since I have to work).

As much as I LOVE summer and the fun, it is so nice to start back into a routine. The boys are back to school so it’s back to a bed time routine and up early to get everyone out the door.

Hopefully now I can get back into my routine of writing/posting!

That’s it for today, my friends! I have to go post over on Roo’s blog. Have a great weekend! (what’s left of it)
Not meaning any offense, of course. So, we found other accommodations for our water play.

Later in the week I took Taz and met a friend (and two of her children) back over at the park. Now what kind of question is THAT? Of course I think it’s disgusting but as a mother of a two year old (and one with disabilities so no chance of potty training in the near future) I ‘know’ accidents will happen in the pool. Honestly, I just ‘try’ my best NOT to think about that and hope they can shock the CRAP (pun intended) out of the pool. Who new that a little baby could be such a good judge of character?

We originally started watching Signing Time after Roo's speach therapist with our early intervention program suggested it. At that time the show was on our local PBS channel but wasn't able to remain so (anyone out there that would like to sponsor/fund them to be on public television?).

Roo became obsessed with Rachel and at times the only way to calm him is by playing the show. So, we purchased several DVD's, music cassettes (to play at night as he used to never sleep), and flash cards for those times we just can't play the DVD's (besides he also LOVES books, and he thinks we are reading a book to him when we go through the cards).

Last June we found out that Signing Time would be in Oklahoma and I knew I would have to do whatever it took to take Roo to the show.

We were lucky enough to meet this lovely lady and her amazing husband after the show and then we got to have lunch with them. HOW COOL IS THAT?

Even at that time I didn't think a couple could be any more awesome than they were. I mean here they are big time stars and yet when they held my disabled child in their arms so sweetly it warmed my heart.

Once again I am posting from my iPhone (apparently if I want to blog, I will be having to do the majority of it here ...the boys have taken over my laptop). So, once I can get to it I will update with pics.

I am so lucky to have met this wonderful mom that inspires me to be the best I can be-not just for me, my hubby or for my other two boys but especially for Roo because I don't want to be his reason for not being able to do anything he wants to do. I am also thankful for Signing Time and the communication they have made possible. Roo can't talk but he knows what we are saying and signing to him. He has started making a few signs although they are not clear cut if you watch closely you can tell he is trying. He also says a lot with his eyes. He signs 'milk', 'more' and in this video he is signing 'Alex' and 'Leah' (from Signing Time).

-- Post From My iPhone
Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07805631009814089439noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2962231432134070218.post-49846184383757103982009-07-15T23:52:00.000-05:002009-07-16T19:34:38.234-05:00Testing Testing 1 2 3

Well, as you can probably see I am "testing" to see how this blogging from my new iPhone is gonna work. So, please excuse any errors....I swear I have sausages for fingers!

It was time to renew my contract on my phone so I headed out and finally got to get me a new iPhone 3gS. It is so fun to shop the millions (it has to be
millions) of apps to add and play with. I will have to let you know how this app works FOR me.
Yes, I am on vacation and out of town. And, being the cool mom that I am I let Tuba Boy (aka-my oldest child) take MY laptop with him to a different location (Uncle B's) to play 'WOW'.

Ok, for testing purposes only-I am adding this pic I accidentaly took of myself while trying to figure out how to work the camera on my phone. And this has absolutely NO editing...I will figure that out another time.

I will close for now but will return (as soon as I figure out how to add a link or am back will my dearly missed laptop) to tell you about the fun friend and adorable children along with her mother that met Friday. He loved the game of golf and my hubby loved playing with him. They had many great conversations about everything.

One of the most common conversations between them was in regards to Roo. He was genuinely concerned about Roo’s progress and future. With Ed having such a huge heart he was also the biggest contributor to Roo’s trust, assuring that he was able to remain in Special Care School. For this we will be forever grateful!

On Wednesday, July 1st, Ed called wanting to go play a round of golf. The local course had a special “$6 after 6:00pm”. Of course, Hubs was all in. He asked if I would like to walk the course with them for exercise.

We met Ed at the first hole. He was sitting on a bench waiting for us and our turn and mentioned he was pretty tired from playing golf the day before but still wanted to play. Hubby was teasing him about hitting into “Ed land” (into the trees). haha

By the time we had made it to the third hole we could see he was struggling and when the beverage girl came by he decided to get a ride back in to the club house.

We continued on until the eleventh hole and headed back to the parking lot where Ed was trying to cool off. We ended up having to call 911 after talking to his brother and they took him to the hospital where he passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009.

~today we played for you Ed~ I know Ed would not have wanted Hubby to miss his tee time, so, for the first time ever I played a full round of golf with him. I know I was nothing close to the partner he is used to playing with but hopefully I made Ed proud!

May every hole in heaven be a hole in one for Ed!

…below is the obituary from The Oklahoman, our local newspaper

Edwin Daniel Jr.

Edwin Curtis Daniel JR passed away on July 2, 2009. He was born on October 29, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated in 1965 from U.S. Grant High School. He then went on to college at Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Curtis Daniel SR and Lois Hunter Daniel. He left to cherish his many loving memories and gifts to this earth his 2 children: Carrie Christine Rodgers of San Antonio, Texas and Kevin Curtis Daniel of Maumelle, Arkansas; his 2 grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye -- Emily Nicole Daniel and Jace Aransas Rodgers; a son-in-law, Michael Rodgers, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Daniel, a sister, Sharon Shaw of Tuttle; a brother, Don Daniel of Oklahoma City; a brother-in-law, Dell Shaw; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Daniel; and a host of family and friends who meant the world to him. Ed was employed with Mustang Fuel for over 23 years. Previously he worked for The Economy Company and American Educational Computer. Everyone who loved Ed knew he had a passion for golf, horse racing, basketball and was an OSU Cowboy at heart. He was a loving, caring, generous man. Everywhere he went, from Remington Park to OKC Thunder games and to even the dry cleaners, he always saw a friend. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009, 8am-9pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel, with interment at 2:00 pm at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Oklahoma. Memorial donations may be made to a charity close to Ed's heart, The Cole Keathley Trust Fund at http://www.caringforcole.blogspot.com/. Flowers will be provided by Jewel Box Florist, 4205 South Penn, (405) 681-6671. Pallbearers are Stan Weed, Joe Keathley, Brandon Newport, Eric Shaw, Greg Shaw and Jeremy Daniel. Honorary pallbearers are Don Daniel, Dell Shaw, and Michael Rodgers. http//www.caringforcole.blogspot.com/

We would like to give special “thanks” to Ed’s children, Carrie and Kevin, for being so caring and kind, like their father, and mentioning Cole’s site and trust. I pray that you can find comfort in knowing your father’s last moments here with us were doing the thing he loved so much…playing golf.

Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07805631009814089439noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2962231432134070218.post-78697362529524215282009-05-28T01:53:00.001-05:002009-05-28T01:53:56.776-05:00A Thousand Words Thursday – Easter Past

Three of my favorite males, taken at Easter 2009.

BA has the drill down.
These are the three reasons I absolutely LOVE being a mom!

Yes, they can be a lot (sometimes overwhelmingly a LOT)of work! But they are my reason for being. THEY ARE MY WORLD!

You know how when you are growing up you always hear, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"? Well, I still don't know what I want to BE when I grow up. All I know is I love being mommy to my three boys and I take my 'job' very seriously.

While on the subject of mom, I am so lucky to have the best mom ever and can only hope to be half the mom that she is! I was able to go stay with her for the past three days. I left the two older boys with Dad and took Roo. Uncle B and I took mom out to at Islamorada's. I would have loved to take pics because it was absoltely delicious....even though I ended up having to box mine up to take back to Uncle B's house and eat it there. Roo was tired and just wanted to take a nap on the floor....and being the mom that I am, I would not let him lay on the floor at the restaraunt.

While we were at Uncle B's house he took these pic (and more):
So, my Mother's Day (4 days) has been awesome!

First, my mom watched Roo for a little while on each of the three days we were visiting. Thursday, I went to the Tulsa MNO (Mother's Night Out), Friday was really 'for' my mom but that night around 9:00 pm I went to one of my best friend's house to visit, then Saturday morning Roo stayed with Grandma while I went to the Autism Center of Tulsa Fun Run. After the run (really a walk) we visited for a while then Roo and I headed back home.

Last night Hubby cooked filet mignon on the grill, with a baked potato, baked beans and dinner rolls. YUMMY!

Today, Roo announced his 'Happy Mother's Day!' wishes (yells) to me at 7:00 am. Luckily he want back to sleep allowing me some 'me' time with my cup of coffee so I could 'try' to catch up on things on the computer. It was almost 10:00 before all the boys started moving around.

Hubby gave me a card before he left for golf and the boys gave me their card when they woke up. Taz painted me a pretty painted pot with a rose plant in it. BA helped here & there with Roo.

In the meantime, we are doing research so I can get a new DSLR camera. I'm trying to decide if I would rather get a Nikon or a Canon.

Isn't Uncle B the BEST brother/photographer? These pictures below are ALL his too. We had been playing around and I wanted some pics with Roo. I was trying so hard to get him to laugh but it appeared his tummy wasn't feeling real well. We just did the best we could and I tried to lift him in the air a couple of times to get him to laugh....instead all I got was puke down my blouse! YUCK!

Uncle B said he sure did wish he had had the camera ready right at the moment that happened so he could capture the look on my face because I could 'see' it coming at me! LOL

(p.s. my one and only negative for today....I freakin can NOT talk! I feel perfectly fine, no soreness, no sickness, just NO volume! The only way anything comes out without sounding like a broken speaker skipping half of my words is if I whisper...and I swear everyone in my household is at least half deaf! Seriously, Hubby needs hearing aides but I'm sure the others just don't want to take the time to listen. LOL)
"Ta-Da! I did it!"

Roo received 3-4 injections of the Botox in each arm. We were so proud of him because he did not shed even one tear. As a matter of fact, he didn't fuss at all.

Now I just hope for the next few months, while Roo's muscle's are relaxed, his therapists can use this opportunity to 're-train' his brain to tell his muscles how to react without also fighting the spacticity.

Thank you to everyone for all your kind words and your support! I am glad we made the decision to move forward with getting the injections. I will post more as we see progress.

Here's Daddy reading to Roo out in the waiting room. He was the best helper ever and kept Roo happy the whole time with a book.
I still have a couple of other stories from that time...but that's for later.

These two ladies are both absolutely stunning ... and TALL! (not fair, I want long legs) We ate great Mexican food (I tried the fish tacos that Dawn suggested and they really were good and she said they had to be good for us since they were fish...hehe), a couple had some margaritas and wonderful conversation! She talks about our 'sandwich generation' (it explains on her blog), taking care of family, dealing with (dementia) Alzheimer's and will crack you up! She is so sweet, smart and even has a very cute ass! (ROFL...you have to go see her Twitter pic to get that one!)

On another note.........On Monday we will be taking Roo to get Botox injections in his arms and hands. I have had so many mixed feelings about letting someone inject a poison into my baby.

I will be spending most of this weekend with MORE research. I want to make absolutely certain that I make the right decision. Sometimes it is SO difficult being a parent and making those tough choices.

I have to read, study, weigh the positives to negatives....and PRAY that whatever decision I make is the right one.
AFTER

Well? How'd I do in my picture taking and editing? - Be honest!

This is BA's beautiful girlfriend E. I think I mentioned before that they had the prom to go to....but that is another post.

I just used this picture to experiment with in Lightroom. Yes, I now have three options for my picture editing. Photoshop Elements, Photoshop CS3, and Lightroom.

I previously has a huge mess of pictures all over the place on my computer and had so much trouble finding a particular picture I might want to use. I had so many folders that had sub-folders with sub-folders.

None of my pictures had a uniform naming system. Some might have the date, some with an actual 'title' where I had changed it, and some with DSCNXXXX, etc. that the camera would automatically enter.

This was driving me crazy! ...ok er - crazier!

I spent most of my day Sunday (in my PJ's, as previously stated) narrowing down and getting rid of most of all of my sub-folders.

Then my brother, Uncle B, helped walk me through Lightroom (LR) and now all of my pictures are in order (by yymmdd-hhmmss). Ah, it is beautiful.

So, this afternoon I have been playing with all the fun editing that LR has to offer. I also know that I will be searching for some tutorials to show me what all LR can do for me...but I love it so far.

I won't be giving up on my PS CS3 because it still has things to offer that I might not find in LR. I will just have to play with them both.

Just in case you noticed in my last post (at the very end, I went in today to have a minor surgery called an ablation. A few people I have talked to have said they no longer have that monthly visitor.

To have this procedure you have to be certain you no longer want to have any children as this is permanent. No problem for me, this old lady has already had her tubes tied.

Previously the procedure was typically performed as an out-patient surgery under anesthesia. If I have the option I would rather not be under anesthesia simply because of all the grogginess and slight nauseousness.

I had mine done in the office, with all kinds of drugs (of the prescription variety). I will be honest, it wasn't the most pleasant experience but I would definitely do it again...especially if I get to be one friend less every month (and the only friend I want to be rid of).

So, my obgyn and nurse did everything to make me as comfy as possible. I got anti-inflammatories, and pain meds and gave me a shot of Toradol while there. I could deal with all the prepping with no problems. There was pressure but nothing intolerable.

Then.....YOWZERS!! It did hurt a little (or maybe a LOT) when the tool suctioned my uterus out! On the plus side, since I have had kids I knew I could deal with it. The machine will not go over 2 minutes and mine was just under one. It will be SO worth it!
I promise everything here is moving along and we are all okay.

Every single day I have every intention of 'entering just a quick post'.

Every single night (after I am finished with work, baseball, supper, dishes, chatting, etc. and finally getting Roo to go to sleep, for at least the fifth time that night) as I sit trying to decide exactly 'which' post I want to finally enter (because I swear I have thought of a million) I can not seem to keep my eyelids open.

I will literally fall asleep with my fingers on the keys of my laptop, sitting up, when my head will bobble and I jerk awake. Now how pitiful is THAT?

So, here I am, I am making NO promises other than - I 'promise' to give it my best shot (time permitting) to hold these heavy eyelids open long enough to 'try' to be a better blogger (and not such a slacker).

Luckily, I have had a few of you bloggy buddies reassure me that you understand that I actually do have a life to live (which I didn't realize I actually did so much in a 24 hour period until I tried to squeeze in MORE).

Yea, don't think I'm leaving that easily though....I'm still here, it just may not be every day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My tag (courtesy of my friend Baloney over at That's Baloney!) is for the 8 Things Tag!
Ok, so here's how Baloney says we do this 8 Things thing:
- Mention the person that tagged you.
- Complete the lists of 8's.
- Tag 8 of your wonderful bloggy friends.
- Go tell them you tagged them!
8 THINGS I LOOK FORWARD TO
1. Sleeping IN (this rarely happens so when it does....ahhhhh, heaven).
2. Listening to Roo coo and babble when he gets to sleep in and wake on his own. (the other two just veg in the mornings and want no part of silly, giggly conversation)
3. My morning coffee! and another and another!
4. The quiet of the house when I finally get home from dropping the last one off.
5. Being able to open my window and doors because of beautiful weather like we have been having. (FINALLY!)
6. Talking to my friends and family...or any 'adult' (anyone that is not still enrolled in the K-12 public school system).
7. Being finished with work.
8. Going 'out' of the house to watch/play with my boys.
8 THINGS I DID YESTERDAY
1. Dumped out all the mold growing in my fridge.
2. Cleaned my house.
3. Laundry.
4. Cooked.
5. Visited with my BIL (from Mississippi-hehe, I had to add that - do you remember spelling it like M, i, crooked letter, crooked letter, i, crooked letter, crooked letter, i, hump back, hump back, i?) and niece.
6. Took PROM pics of BA & friends. (looking so grown up....that's one of those 'later' posts I was talking about)
7. Visited with the parents of said friends and then neighbors.
8. Played with Roo. (he thought it was pretty funny when I would have to VERY QUICKLY chase after him as he would roll down the driveway, INTO THE ROAD, ON PURPOSE)
8 THINGS I WISH I COULD DO
1. Make Roo be a fully functioning, self sufficient individual.
2. Make Roo sleep completely through the night so that I can sleep completely through the night.
3. Win the lottery. (at least enough to take care of my family, immediate and a few extended and my friends that are my family)
4. Be less forgetful.
5 Be more organized.
6. Have the 'option' to work or to stay home to take care of Roo. (and all my boys - although BA and SM are a lot less dependent on me now - Hubby, not so much, still a dependent baby...hehe, love you honey)
7. Have a maid to cook, clean, and take care of the house.
8. To have more (or even some...oh yea, I'm taking some soon...another one of those posts mentioned above) ME TIME!!! (would love to have a huge jacuzzi garden tub with bubbles and hmmm...I don't care for wine...so maybe a frozen margarita....a good book...can I play on the computer in the tub? or that just too dangerous? ... and enjoy the peace and quiet for ... a LONG time!)
8 SHOWS I WATCH
Shows that 'I' watch? Or that I like to see bits and pieces as I'm cooking or feeding Roo or playing on here (the computer) instead of giving it my FULL attention (much to Hubby's disappointment).
1. CSI (any of the versions)
2. Law & Order (again, any version)
3. Dexter
4. Chuck
5. How I Met Your Mother
6. Gary Unmarried
7. Ghost Whisperer
8. Rules of Engagement
8 Bloggers Tagged
And so now YOU are IT! (so Baloney, are you sayin, 'no tag-backs'? LOL)
1. Dawn's Diversions
2. The Froggy Bottom Blog
3. Bloggin It from the Burbs
4. Jenny Kate's Spot
5. My Glimpse of Life
6. Confession's from an Impulsive Addict
7. Jam's Own Reality
8. The Rambler
I first saw tag over at Fraase Family and thought I would get out of it since she didn't specify 8 blogs....then along comes Baloney! Through more following I then found Heather's husband, Mike Spohr's blog.
With every piece of information my heart broke just a little more for Heather and Mike. Piece by piece I was putting together this sad ending to the story of their beautiful precious 17 month old little girl.
This little angel's name.... Madeline. Heather lovingly referred to her as Maddie Moo and to Mike she was "Madeline….to my Chicken Muffin Love Bear… to my Mooseroni…my chippy, chippy, chippy, chippy monkey, to my little girl".
It has been amazing to see the love and concern and caring spread like wild fire all over Twitter and through blogland asking for help and support which you can find on the above mentioned blogs.
Here is the heart touching tribute Heather and Mike made for Maddie.
The Tribute to Our Madeline from Mike and Heather on Vimeo.
AND THEN THERE WAS THALON
As if my heart was not breaking enough I see another tweet about another death of a sweet innocent little baby. His name...Thalon.
I don't know the complete details of all that happened but I was lead to his mother's blog Gorillabuns through her friend Whoorl where you can tell by her words that she is so broken without her baby.
This sweet little boy was only on this earth from December 22, 2008 - April 10th or 12th or both, 2009.
picture of Thalon by mom Gorrillabuns
And these deaths of these two precious fragile babies makes the memories of my visits in the NICU with my own very sweet Roo all too fresh!
I hate to even go there in thought! Reading about these tragedies and how sudden they both were. It brings the possibilities and the vulnerabilities of Roo way too close to home. With him having Cerebral Palsy he is more susceptible to illness than a typical child.
Like I said before, it just breaks my heart for these families even though I don't personally know any of them and I truly wish that I could reach out and give them...whatever they are needing to get through this.Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07805631009814089439noreply@blogger.com23tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2962231432134070218.post-9580313811274003072009-04-06T01:55:00.000-05:002009-04-06T01:55:31.083-05:00iHeartFaces - My Friend & I
Here is Taz and his good friend J. He is just like another one of MY sons. I used to keep him here at the house with us while I would work. The boys were always in and out of the house and keeping each other busy.
I would take them both to kindergarten at two different schools. Some of their conversations that I would hear from the front seat would totally crack me up!
No, it's NOT for me! Although, if I wasn't afraid it would mess up my face (because that really would be my luck), then maybe I could ask for some.
I have been doing 'research' on botox for CD. Go here to see why!
Where you may be asking? Well, we may not have gone fancy resort or a beautiful condo, but we had adventure!
We had to wait to leave after baseball practice on Saturday and headed to my friends house. She is my Sis! I love her!
